Pedestrian-Only Downtown - loads of restaurants, sunshine, Coffee Shops
Downtown Mountain View is pedestrian-only, thanks to City Council. What a pleasure it is to walk downtown without cars, stopping to enjoy a meal or a coffee outdoors. Come hungry, as there are about a zillion restaurants of every type on Castro Street, and loads of great coffee and tea places. (The first three blocks of Castro are all-pedestrian, from the Caltrain station to California Street)
Free parking — Transit options
Free parking downtown, on the streets and in a large multi-story garage right behind the store.
Unlimited free parking after 6 pm
For longer stays, you can park a few blocks away from the downtown and hang out all day.
The Mountain View Community Shuttle stops just 2 blocks away, at the Civic Center/Performing Arts Center.
Caltrain’s Mountain View/Castro stop is just 6 blocks away.
There are numerous bike racks in the downtown, including right in front of East West. Park and walk the beautiful downtown.
We’re open, and love seeing you in person. But if you like to buy books from home, and are tempted to order from Amazon because it’s so easy….there’s a new alternative. Buy ANY book, ANY time through this new portal, thanks to the new non-profit Bookshop.org. And 30% comes to East West. Amazing! Please consider bookmarking this right next to your Amazon bookmark. This is a great blessing for independent bookstores.
